The Cleveland Indians were again plagued by limited offense in a 3-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves last night.
As they did 24 hours earlier, the Tribe again fell behind 2-0 in the second inning. Braves right fielder Jordan Schafer hit a two-run single off Tribe starter Justin Masterson (pictured)
Unlike the previous game, the Indians came back. Mike Aviles hit a home run to left in the fourth inning and a sacrifice fly in the eighth to tie the game.
However, the Braves walked off with the victory in the bottom of the ninth when third baseman Chris Johnson delivered an RBI single off Joe Smith (5-2).
The Indians remained six games behind Detroit in the AL Central because the Tigers got hammered by Oakland 14-4.
Before the game, the Tribe called up outfielder Matt Carson to replace the injured Ryan Raburn. Carson came up in the seventh as a pinch hitter and struck out.
Cleveland will try to salvage their last game in Atlanta tonight when Ubaldo Jimenez (9-8) faces Kris Medlen. The Indians are four games behind Oakland in the wild card race.
