Mike Pettine's success as Cleveland Browns head coach will depend in part on the performance of his coordinators, whom he introduced at a press conference yesterday.

Kyle Shanahan takes over for Norv Turner as offensive coordinator after holding that position for the Houston Texans and Washington Redskins.

"Kyle Shanahan is one of the best offensive minds in football," Pettine said.

New defensive coordinator Jim O'Neil was Pettine's linebackers coach last year when Pettine ran the Buffalo defense, which racked up a franchise-record 57 sacks.

"Jim is a tenacious coach, smart. He's tough, he's creative, and he and I have done it together," Pettine remarked.

Pettine retained Chris Tabor as special teams coach. Punt returner Travis Benjamin and the rest of Tabor's unit were instrumental in the Browns' win over the Bills last year.

"Chris Tabor is one of the most well-respected special teams coaches in the league," Pettine said.
