Mike Munchak, who was fired as Tennessee head coach on Jan. 4, interviewed with the Browns on Monday. Munchak, who posted a 22-26 record in three years with the Titans, is also a candidate for the Detroit Lions vacancy.
The other top candidate is Adam Gase, the Broncos’ offensive coordinator. He is likely to interview with the Browns and the Minnesota Vikings after the playoffs.
So if Denver defeats New England on Sunday, the Browns will have to wait until after the Super Bowl to interview their No. 1 choice.
If both of those choices fall through, the Browns can hire the best of the candidates they have already interviewed: Arizona defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn or Green Bay quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo.
