Cleveland Browns Postmortem: What Went Wrong Against the New England Patriots

Cleveland Browns fans were not comfortable with their favorite team leading the New England Patriots by 12 points with less than three minutes to play on Sunday.

They knew Tom Brady could engineer a miraculous comeback, and that’s exactly what happened as the Patriots rallied to a 27-26 victory.

Returning from a concussion, Browns quarterback Jason Campbell delivered a marvelous performance. He passed for 391 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. This loss is not on him.

Browns fans can bemoan the onside kick and the pass-interference call in the last two minutes, but ultimately, the Browns have to change the narrative.

The Browns must become the team that plunges the knife into their opponents’ hearts at the end of the game, capping 57 minutes of dominance with three final minutes of triumph, not heartbreak.

It can happen; it just takes time, years of good drafting and a commitment to a philosophy and a coaching staff.

The Browns are on their way to another dismal season, but Rob Chudzinski’s men have shown some flashes of brilliance and some hope for the future.
