Travis Benjamin, a hero of the Cleveland Browns’ brief early-season success, is out for the season with a torn ACL.
Benjamin blew out his knee while returning a punt in the third quarter of the Browns’ 23-17 loss to the Chiefs in Kansas City, according to a Beacon Journal report.
A few weeks ago, the Browns also lost starting quarterback Brian Hoyer to a season-ending ACL injury.
Benjamin’s biggest play of the season was a 74-yard punt return for a touchdown in the Browns’ 37-24 win over the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 3.
The Browns (3-5) replaced Benjamin with Davone Bess, who fumbled a punt in the fourth quarter. Bess will return punts against the Baltimore Ravens (3-4) this Sunday, according to head coach Rob Chudzinski.
