Major League Baseball's Rule 5 player draft was held Thursday and the Cincinnati Reds selected right-handed pitcher Mikey O'Brien from the New York Yankees with the 14th pick.

The 23-year old was drafted by the Yankees in the ninth round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft. He split last year between Single-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton and appeared in 27 games (25 starts) while going 8-10 with a 4.17 ERA.

The Reds also lost Theodis Bowe to the Washington Nationals, an outfielder who spent last season with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
