When Bronson Arroyo started the September 28th game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in which he pitched just four and two-thirds of an inning, it seems like it would be the last time he would be wearing the red and white of the Cincinnati Reds.
According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Reds have reportedly stated that they will offer the 36-year old righty a one-year deal. Reds general manager Walt Jocketty and Arroyo's agent were said to have met during the winter meetings held in Florida this past week.
Arroyo has been a member of the Reds for the last eight seasons. He's started 265 games going 105-94 while averaging over 200 inning pitched.
Even if rumors were untrue and Arroyo was to head elsewhere, the Reds have their starting rotation all but set. If he were to sign, it would be possible t have a six-man rotation or have Tony Cingrani head back to the bullpen where he was late in the season.
The New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Minnesota Twins have all been linked to be interested in Arroyo this offseason.
