With the Major League Baseball Rule 5 draft quickly approaching, the Cincinnati Reds needed to complete their 40-man roster. That's just what the club did Wednesday when they selected the contracts of four players.

Catcher Tucker Barnhart, starting pitcher Chad Rogers, and outfielders Ryan LaMarre and Juan Duran rounded out the Reds roster.

Banrhart, 22, spent all of last year in double-A Pensacola. He appeared in 98 games batting .260 with three bombs and 44 RBIs. He was second on the team with 19 doubles and led the team in free passes with 45. Behind the plate Barnhart threw out 37% of runners attempting to steal to go along with his .990 fielding percentage. He was named a Southern League Mid-Season All-Star this season.

Rogers is a 24-year old right hander from Galveston, Texas. He spend last season in both Pensacola and Louisville. While in double-A, he started 13 games picking up a 3-2 record. His 2.20 ERA was one of the best on the team only allowing 17 earned runs in 69.2 innings He, along with Barnhart, was named a Southern League Mid-Season All-Star. In Louisville, he started 12 games going 5-5. In 70.1 innings Rogers allowed 33 earned runs while striking out 48 and walking just 19.

Ranked the 13th top prospect in the Reds organization by, LaMarre also spent time in both Double-A and Triple-A. The 25-year old, who played his college ball of the University of Michigan, spent the majority of this year in Pensacola appearing 126 games. He led the team in runs scored, triples, and stolen bases while ranking in the top three in at-bats, hits, doubles, home runs, total bases, and walks. He appeared in three games in Louisville collecting two hits and a stolen base. The 2010 second-round pick spent the past few months participating in the Arizona Fall League.

Duran, a native of the Dominican Republic, spent last season out in California playing for Bakersfield. In 111 games, he batted .251 with 20 home runs and 66 RBIs.  He added 55 runs, 15 doubles, and three triples. The six-foot-seven outfielder was signed as a free agent in 2008.

By selecting there contracts, it is unlikely that the Reds will select anyone in December's Rule 5 Draft. It also seems as though the organization looks at these four guys as bright spots for the future.
