The two-time All-Star (2011 & 2012) easily had his most productive season of his short career. He set career highs in games played, at-bats, runs (tied), hits, total bases, doubles and RBI's. He collected 30 home runs for the third time in his career as well. Defensively, Bruce was solid as well committing only three errors and producing 13 fielding assists, a career high.
Earlier this week, Bruce was named as the representative of the Cincinnati Reds for the Hank Aaron Award, which is being awarded for the 15th season. Fans can vote online at MLB.com or at each team site (reds.com). Voting ends at midnight tonight.
Bruce continues to grow as a baseball player. While his strikeout totals continue to rise, his eye at the plate looked much better this season. I can see the Texas-native having another career season next year. If he works on laying off pitches outside as well as up in the zone. I think Bruce will have another season of career highs and lead the Reds back into the playoffs for the fourth time in five years.
