BREAKING NEWS: In order to make room on the roster for Dan Straily the Chicago Cubs have optioned Junior Lake to AAA Iowa, according to Chicago Cubs Online. Lake has had a tough year, hitting .216 in 98 games for the Cubs.

Lake burst on to the scene last summer and ended up hitting a respectable .284 with 6 home runs in 64 games. At just 23 years old, a demotion to AAA is not a death sentence for Lake's career and it is entirely possible that he could be back in Chicago in September or in 2015.
