The Chicago Cubs are really rolling now! After going a respectable 15-13 in the month of June, Cubs Starter Edwin Jackson kicked off July with a win and his first quality start since May 17 (against the Milwaukee Brewers). The Cubs have now taken the first two games of a three game set with the Boston Red Sox thanks to Jake Arrieta’s near no-hitter on Monday and Jackson’s strong six inning performance (6IP, 6H, ER, 4BB, 3K) last night.

Tonight’s series finale will feature Travis Wood against Brandon Workman. Travis Wood is tied for the team lead in Wins (7) and looks to improve on that in what will be his first career start again the Red Sox.

The Cubs also hope that Starlin Castro and Anthony Rizzo can continue to carry the offense as we move into July. Casto and Rizzo were both red-hot in the month of June.

A series sweep in Boston would be a great way to start off July and could give the Cubs some momentum as they head toward the trade deadline. First pitch is at 6pm CST.
