According to Jesse Rogers of ESPNchicago.com, Manny Ramirez will report to AAA Iowa today. Manny will join the Iowa Cubs as a player coach in hopes that he can help develop some of the Cubs’ top hitting prospects, Javier Baez and Arismendy Alcantara, and Kris Bryant in particular.

Manny has been working out in Arizona at the Cubs spring training facility since being signed nearly a month ago, but he spent some extra time there to work with Jorge Soler, the Cubs troubled Cuban prospect. Soler, currently rehabbing a hamstring injury, has some had trouble off the field since he joined the Cubs. Manny took the extra time to mentor the 22-year-old outfielder and try to get him on the right path. The two also discussed hitting, but Soler need less improvement on that end as he owns a career .295 average with 13 home runs in just 98 minor league games.

It is not yet known how much playing time Manny will actually get.
