Kris Bryant must have really taken the phrase, “Chicks dig the long ball,” to heart because all he has done since arriving at the Cubs AAA affiliate (Iowa) is hit home runs. Literally, that’s all he has done. The 22-year-old third baseman has played five games for the Iowa Cubs and has 4 hits in his first 18 at bats. All four hits have been home runs.
Bryant made a name for himself as a home run hitter when he hit 31 of them for the University of San Diego as a junior in 2013. And since being drafted second overall by the Cubs in the same year, Bryant has hit 35 home runs in just 109 professional games (regular season only).
So, in honor of Kris Bryant’s dedication to going yard, we here at Cubs101 are going to start taking bets. No money of course, but you may wager your pride, our friendship or even your allegiance to this page. How many at bats before Kris Bryant hits his first single at AAA? Keep in mind he has 18 at bats so far. Comment below, on our Facebook page, or hit us up on twitter (@cubs_101).
Our guess is he goes a total of 24 at bats before he finally picks up his first single.Tags: Baseball, Chicago, Chicago Cubs, Cubs101, home run, home run hitter, Iowa Cubs, Kris Bryant, MLB, University of San Diego
