For Deng, it is his second All-Star nod, the first coming last year. He's having a solid year, as his defense has remained as good as it's ever been while he's stepped up his offense to help compensate for Derrick Rose's absence.
Noah, on the other hand, is making his first All-Star appearance. Noah has really stepped up to help replace not only Rose, but also the departed Omer Asik, as he's averaging more than 38 minutes a night. His passing, defense and rebounding have really helped keep the Bulls afloat and in the race for the Central Division title.
Upon the announcement that he'd made the all-star team, Noah sent out a series of tweets thanking any number of people for their help in getting him to this point. Here's the first in a string of at least 10:
I can't believe it... This has been a long journey. I want to thank all my teammates and my mother for dealing with all my shitiness.— Joakim Noah (@JoakimNoah) January 25, 2013
The rosters can be viewed in their entirety here.
UPDATE: Deng has also sent out tweets thanking people for their support.
Thanks to my teammates and the coaching stuff for inspiring me and helping me play to the best of my ability.— Luol Deng (@LuolDeng9) January 25, 2013
He also congratulated Noah and shouted out Carlos Boozer too, even though it's hard to really argue Boozer's case too hard.
