Once again, the preseason doesn't matter. Here's what happened last night.
1) Seriously, Tom Thibodeau is a crazy person.
I was out for most of last night, so I didn't manage to see any of the game, but when I got home and checked the box score, one of the first things I noticed was that Luol Deng played 37 minutes.
Now, in a regular season game, that's actually kind of a light load for Luol. Any time he plays less than 40 minutes in the regular season is practically cause for celebration. But this is the preseason. Even if you accept the premise that anyone should be playing 37 minutes in a preseason game — which I don't — the Bulls had this game pretty well wrapped up down the stretch…and Luol was still out there.
Oh, and lest ye forget, this isn't even the first time Thibs has pulled this crap this year. The last time the Bulls played the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jimmy Butler never left the floor, playing all 48 minutes. Sooner or later, someone's going to collapse due to exhaustion and then where will we be?
Hey, guess who finally decided to show up? Carlos Boozer put up 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists, shooting 10/17 from the field and even getting to the line six times. Now he just has to carry this kind of performance over into the regular season. I have my doubts
Are we still waiting for Marco Belinelli's shot to arrive from New Orleans? Or does he just suck? Through five games, he's shooting 25% from the field and has not made one single three. Sure, it's only preseason, but yeesh.
Also, yeah, he's totally better than Kyle Korver. /rolls eyes
That's all I have, have a great weekend. Look for our Bulls season preview to drop Monday morning.
