With the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia approaching, the United States revealed their hockey roster on Wednesday afternoon. Amongst those who made the list is Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane. Kane's addition to the team comes at no surprise considering his previous success and the fact that he's been one of the most valuable players during the first half of the 2013-2014 NHL season.
Here is a look at the full roster for the United States Olympic hockey team:
Jimmy Howard, Ryan Miller, Jonathan Quick
John Carlson, Justin Faulk, Cam Fowler, Paul Martin, Ryan McDonagh, Brooks Orpik, Kevin Shattenkirk, Ryan Suter
David Backes, Dustin Brown, Ryan Callahan, Patrick Kane, Ryan Kesler, Phil Kessel, T.J. Oshie, Max Pacioretty, Zach Parise, Joe Pavelski, Paul Stastny, Derek Stepan, James van Riemsdyk, Blake Wheeler
Chicago Blackhawks forward Brandon Saad and defenseman Nick Leddy did not make the team. Saad, 21, has 14 goals and 16 assists this season and can play both ends of the ice. Leddy, 22, has five goals and 13 assists and is a fast, puck moving defenseman. Both players made a strong case for making the roster, but ultimately fell short.
The United States will play their first game on Thursday, February 13 against Slovakia at 6:30 am. CT.
