Chicago Blackhawks Training Camp Recap: Day Four

The Chicago Blackhawks wrapped up their four day training camp yesterday at the Compton Family Ice Arena in Notre Dame. The practice was once again open to the public as 5,000 fans came to see the defending Stanley Cup Champions take the ice.

Here are a few key points from Sunday:

  • Jonathan Toews sat out the scrimmages again with a lower body injury. He is supposed to be on the ice prior to today's training camp festival during a skate around
  • Brandon Pirri was also held out of scrimmages with an undisclosed injury. It is not believed to be serious.
  • Duncan Keith almost got into another fight – this time with Jimmy Hayes – but the refs broke it up before anything escalated
  • Teuvo Teravainen continued to impress. Although the Blackhawks own his rights to keep him in Chicago, he is expected to play in Finland this upcoming season to get bigger and stronger.

One person that noticed Teravainen's efforts was the Blackhawks' Senior Advisor of Hockey Operations Scotty Bowman.

That is a great compliment for Teravainen coming from a person like Bowman.

The Blackhawks now head back to Chicago today as the team hosts its training camp festival at the United Center. Doors open at 5 pm. The Stanley Cup will be displayed from 5:45 – 6:15 pm. Scrimmages will begin at 7 pm. Remember that the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Jonathan Toews bobblehead.
