Despite a thoroughly disappointing overtime loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Sunday, Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman isn't giving up on the team's playoff chances.

“There are some historical points of view that show that it doesn’t [mean the Bears can't make the playoffs].  We’ve got a long season left. We’ve got four games to go. There was a sign of a team that played very well today at times. We just didn’t play well enough all the time. There’s clearly evidence that we can move forward here, and I’m always going to feel that way.” — via ESPNChicago.com

Mathematically, Trestman is right.  But the Bears' poor NFC record won't make things easy.  Chicago has the worst record in the conference among playoff contenders at 3-6, making its position for any tiebreakers difficult at best.

A win Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys would be a good start.  Dallas is 7-5, but lead their division.  The Bears would move back above .500 with a win, while also chipping away at that conference record issue.  Meanwhile, the Bears are still just a single game behind Detroit with four to play, meaning the division crown is still within reach.
