The Chicago Bears had eight players in for workouts Tuesday, according to multiple reports. Those players in included Amari Spivey, a former starting safety for the Detroit Lions.
Spivey started 26 games over the last three years in Detroit. He was released after training camp.
The 25-year-old strong safety has three career interceptions, and one sack.
The Bears also took a look at two other defensive backs, Brandan Bishop, Sean Cattouse and Chaz Powell. Offensive tackle Rogers Gaines center Nick McDonald and defensive tackles Kheeston Randall and Tracy Robertson also reportedly worked out.
It is typical for teams to work out several players a week, although none would necessarily be signed. The Bears are most likely building their emergency list of players to call if they lose depth to injuries.
However, if they were to sign Spivey he would be the team's fourth safety.
