Zbikowski was one of general manager Phil Emery's free agent additions, after impressing last season with the Indianapolis Colts. He started 11 games in 2012, and reportedly drew interest from the Pittsburgh Steelers before signing a one-year deal with the Bears. Zbikowski was a third-round draft choice out of Notre Dame in 2008, by the Baltimore Ravens.

The move is the first step towards trimming the Bears' roster to 75 players, which must be done by Tuesday.
