The Chicago Bears are to welcome placekickers to Halas Hall today in the event that Robbie Gould's left calf muscle injury sidelines the reliable kicker for any amount of time.
It is still unsure how Gould strained his calf muscle, but it is known it occurred during the pregame warmups Sunday. He was seen barely making kicks from about 44 yards, a distance he normally hits with relative ease.
Gould didn't handle kickoff duties, making way for punter Adam Podlesh, but he did make both extra points, as well as attempt the team's onside kick in the closing minutes.
Gould's injury had an affect on Chicago's game, as they were unable to attempt long field goals. Down 14-0, rather than trying a 53-yard kick, the team went for it on fourth down and failed, giving the ball back to Minnesota.
There is expected to be a three-player tryout today, but it isn't known who will show up looking for work.
Some popular free agents include: Neil Rackers, Billy Cundiff, Olindo Mare and Josh Brown.
