After an up-and-down second year in the NFL, Cam Newton has used this offseason to pursue ventures away from football.

The Carolina Panthers quarterback has helped design his own clothing line, called "MADE Cam Newton," for Belk stores. The fashion line includes T-shirts, shorts, sportcoats, suits, ties and more. Here is how the merchandise is described, per the Belk website:

"Modern fashion for the modern, Southern gentleman. Polished for the man who can put it all together. Designed for the Man of action. Charismatic as the man who wears it."

Along with exploring his potential as a fashion designer this offseason, Newton has also gone back to college. The former Heisman Trophy Winner enrolled at Auburn in January to complete his sociology degree.

Naturally, Newton has been a big hit on the campus where he is forever immortalized in a bronze statue. He led cheers at a basketball game, took part in a student government campaign and was serenaded by fellow students on Valentine's Day.

It's refreshing to see Newton give back to Auburn and take a break from the rigors of pro football. It's also admirable to see him take care of some unfinished business in the classroom.

Come fall, Newton will have plenty more unfinished business to attend to on the football field. That starts with avenging last year's heart-wrenching loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the 2013 regular-season opener.
