Five Buffalo Sabres players are set to shave their heads Monday afternoon to help and show support for cancer patients.
Players Mike Weber, Mark Pysyk, Alexander Sulzer, Brayden McNabb and Cody Hodgson will take part in the event at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo. The players have been raising money this month for the Bald for Bucks initiative, which helps the institute treat the 31,000 patients it sees this year and fund cancer research.
"Many people in our community, many of our fans, have been touched by cancer," Weber said. "The Bald for Bucks program is a fun way for us to get involved and is a visual reminder for people battling cancer that we are in their corner."
Bald for Bucks has raised more than $2.4 million since it was founded in 2002.
