Buffalo Sabres Lose in Overtime Against the Calgary Flames

The Buffalo Sabres were evenly matched against the Calgary Flames in today’s home game.

The Buffalo Sabres dominated the first period of today’s game against the Calgary Flames. Although the score remained 0-0 when the buzzer sounded the Sabres managed to get 11 shots on goal to the Flames’ 5. The Sabres were handed a few power plays but were still unsuccessful in capitalizing with points.

The Flames stepped up their game in the second period making this an extremely competitive 20 minutes. The score remained 0-0, however, Calgary became more physical causing them to catch up to the Sabres with 18 shots on goal total to Buffalo’s 19.

The third period was eventful. Moulson broke the tie scoring the first goal of the game. His assist came from Ehrhoff. Calgary shortly followed with a goal of their own scored by former Sabre Paul Byron. This period ended 1-1 leading into overtime.

Calgary scored the winning goal early in overtime ending the game 2-1.

“We have to learn how to put it in and get some breaks,” stated Ted Nolan, coach. “We hit 4 goal posts tonight.”

This game was neck and neck, and unfortunately resulted in a Sabres’ loss making their last 10 record 2-6-2.
