Buffalo Sabres’ newest addition to the team, Matt D’Agostini, is working hard to get his game back.

D’Agostini, from Ontario, CA, was picked up by the Sabres after being put on waivers by the Philadelphia Penguins November 27. The right wing is going on his sixth season playing in the NHL since his very first game in 2008, ironically, against the Buffalo Sabres.

D’Agostini is very excited to be a part of the Sabres organization.

“I look at this as another opportunity to prove myself,” stated D’Agostini. “This is a great organization with great families and a great staff,” he continued.

D’Agostini’s best season to date was in 2010-11 where he played 82 games to score a total of 21 goals and 25 assists while on the St. Louis Blues. Unfortunately, his game has not been that successful in more recent years.

The player contributes his off game to a lack of confidence, and is working on becoming a 20 point scorer once again.

“I get my chances from just skating hard and shooting the puck, so I will continue to do that and see how it goes,” explained D’Agostini.

Although he is eager to get back to his usual self, D’Agostini mentioned that he is not going to play a risky game. Keeping it simple and on point is his current strategy.

He executed simplicity in his debut as Sabre in Friday night’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. D’Agostini played on the line with Ott and Leino and made three shots on goal in just under 16 minutes of playing time.

“I am an Ontario boy so it’s always nice to beat the Leafs,” he said regarding Friday night’s victory.

As he settles in to Buffalo, we can expect great things from D’Agostini.
