The Sabres (0-6-1) have kept most of their losses close, proving that the team has talent, but just has a problem finishing. Of the team's seven losses, five of them are by one-goal margins. The most recent loss came last night as Buffalo dropped a 2-1 decision to the Minnesota Wild, where, of course, former captain Jason Pominville scored the game-winner.
Tonight Buffalo looks to end their streak in Long Island. The Islanders are 2-2-1 this season, and have not lost in regulation at home this season. New York's three goals a game average also triples Buffalo's average, which is something the Sabres will need to address. Ryan Miller is expected to get the start tonight, after taking last night off. His performance will need to be excellent again for the team to have a chance.
One thing Buffalo can build off of from last night's loss is that they played a decent game against a good opponent. The Sabres outshot the Wild 23-20, the first time they've outshot any team this season. The Sabres will hope some of those shots translate into goals tonight, which can then translate into a much needed victory.
