The Buffalo Sabres have come to terms with restricted free agent Cody Hodgson on a six-year $25.5 million contract.
Hodgson, who spent most of the time last year as the first line center, was second on the team with 15 goals and 34 points in 48 games.
"We are extremely excited to have signed Cody to a long-term deal," general manager Darcy Regier said. "We feel he is going to be an important piece of our organization's success in the future and look forward to watching him develop as a player."
The team had previously stated that the goal was to sign Hodgson before training camp, which starts Thursday with a triple session at First Niagara Center. Hodgson is in attendance.
"I knew I wanted to be here," Hodgson said. "I knew that the organization wants me here. It was just a matter of getting figured out, so I'm glad it all worked out just in time."
The Sabres open their preseason schedule on Sunday night against the Montreal Canadiens at 7:30 p.m.
