New math quashes any hopes Buffalo Sabres fans might have for a turnaround this season.

The latest report from Sports Club Stats gives the Sabres a 0 percent chance of winning the Stanley Cup in 2013. They join the Florida Panthers and Columbus Blue Jackets as the only teams with no mathematical shot at the title. The Sabres had a 0.2 percent chance a week ago, before they fired coach Lindy Ruff.

Buffalo is only given a 0.8 percent chance of even making the playoffs. Only the Blue Jackets (0.6 percent) have longer odds. Buffalo has a 41 percent shot, by comparison, of finishing dead last in the Eastern Conference. Buffalo now occupies that spot with a 6-12-1 record entering a two-game Florida road trip this week.

The Chicago Blackhawks, who still haven't lost in regulation, have the best odds to win the Stanley Cup at 30.8 percent. Trailing them are the Pittsburgh Penguins (10.9 percent) and Anaheim Ducks (9.8 percent).
