The Buffalo Sabres appeared to have more energy than usual, but still couldn't crack the scoreboard as the Sabres and New York Islanders remain scoreless after the first period.
Marcus Foligno and Patrick Kaleta have stepped up the physical aspect of the game, sending jolts to their opposition and drawing approval from the hometown fans. Ryan Miller has continued to be excellent, stopping all 13 New York shots.
Alexander Sulzer was injured in the first period with an apparent leg injury. He was helped off the ice and hasn't returned to the game yet. His status will be monitored throughout the game.
