Since the new collective bargaining agreement was reached, NHL teams are now required to reserve an increased amount of tickets for players, NHL officials and referees.

If these tickets aren't used, teams release these tickets to the general public. Typically, these tickets are hard to find, but the Buffalo Sabres have decided to start the "Sabres Standby" program, where you sign up on a first-come first-served basis.

The afternoon before a game, when the tickets are released, fans will be contacted in the order that they signed up with the ability to purchase these tickets. Fans will have 30 minutes to contact the dedicated standby line to speak to a customer service representative, who will be the "Sabres Standby" game-day concierge.

The first game that will be available through "Sabres Standby" is the Friday night game against the Boston Bruins. Fans can sign up up to 48 hours before game time.

To sign up for a game, or for more information, go to www.sabres.com/standby.
