The Buffalo Sabres are set to take the ice tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes and will hope to have a different result from last night's matchup.
The Sabres lost 6-3 to Carolina last night, but they had enough chances to win the game. Tonight, Ryan Miller will make the start and the Sabres hope they can get back to their new physical game to earn two points in the standings tonight. Carolina will start Dan Ellis in place of Cam Ward, who earned the victory over Buffalo last night.
The Sabres will hope that Jason Pominville and Thomas Vanek can continue their scoring ways. The two combined have 15 points in the first three games of the season. Cody Hodgson also has been complimenting that line nicely, scoring three goals in the same stretch.
One thing to look for in tonight's matchup is the play of Tyler Myers. Myers has had a subpar first three games and the Sabres will hope he can find his game and lead Buffalo's defense to the elite status they believe they should be in. Myers has one goal through the first three games, but has eight penalty minutes and is a minus-1. He and his fellow defensemen will have their hands full yet again tonight trying to stop Eric Staal, Jeff Skinner and Alex Semin. Skinner scored a goal in last night's contest while Staal tallied a hat trick, earning all three of his goals this season against Buffalo thus far.
Faceoff for tonight's game is set for 7 pm and Sabres 101 will have exclusive coverage of the game from the press box.
