Consider the Buffalo Sabres forgiven.

With the lockout now over and the season set to start Sunday, the team began reconnecting with the public the past couple days. The Sabres opened the box office for mini-pack ticket sales to season ticket holders Sunday and holding the first open training camp practice of the year Monday.

The team reported 31,213 tickets for the abbreviated 24-game home schedule were sold Sunday, beating the previous single-day record at First Niagara Center by almost six times. During a similar two-sale last season, the team sold 11,170 tickets.

"With the uncertainty surrounding the schedule and the timing of the start of hockey, we didn’t know what to expect. However, Sunday’s ticket sales took us by surprise and, frankly, blew us away," team president Ted Black said. "The extraordinary fan response makes us humble, grateful and even more committed to our core mission. We can’t wait to drop the puck before a full house."

The team opened up its in-arena store Monday for the first day of a week-long half-off sale. Fans waited as long at 45 minutes to buy items, which were scarce by the time the team's intra-squad scrimmage faced off Monday evening. The club reported more than 9,000 fans attended the free session.

The club has capped season tickets at 15,400 and has a waiting list toping 3,000. Individual game tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Daily training camp sessions from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday are open to the public.
