The NHL has announced that the league has submitted a new CBA proposal in an attempt to end the current work stoppage yesterday.

The NHLPA is currently reviewing that proposal.

"In light of media reports this morning, I can confirm that we delivered to the Union a new, comprehensive proposal for a successor CBA late yesterday afternoon," NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said in a statement reported by NHL.com. "We are not prepared to discuss the details of our proposal at this time. We are hopeful that once the Union's staff and negotiating committee have had an opportunity to thoroughly review and consider our new proposal, they will share it with the players. We want to be back on the ice as soon as possible."

While Daly remains optimistic in his statement, this is just the same old tired record playing the same old song for fans. The league and the union have both had their chances to end the lockout and resume playing the season as it was intended in the first place. However, both sides have found a way to continue the labor dispute, while fans grow bored with the mind games. 

If the union doesn't accept the league's proposal, or decides to counter with their own, lopsided proposal, it wouldn't shock anyone a single bit. The fact that they're not playing hockey right now is a strong indication as to where the priorities of both sides lie, and neither is with the fans. So Daly can release his optimistic statement and attempt to show that the league is doing everything they can to bring the NHL back this season, but his words are falling on deaf ears until a deal is done.
