The Buffalo Sabres are striking young in their effort to recruit fans in Western New York.
Buffalo Business First reports the team has partnered with Buffalo-area health care provider Kaleida Health on the Buffalo Sabres Newborn Program. Starting Jan. 1, babies born at Kaleida-run hospitals in Buffalo and suburban Amherst will get a blanket and certificate stating "Future 1st Round Draft Pick." The blanket is hellow with a Sabres logo on the front, and has a logo along with "We Live Hockey" on the back.
The team will sponsor the program through 2013 and then re-evaluate it in 2014. An option is to expand it to other hospitals, including some in southern Ontario.
