The Rochester Americans are in the midst of their worst stretch of the 2012-13 season, having lost four of their last five games – including three defeats at the hand of their division foes, the Toronto Marlies.
Since Nov. 28, the Amerks have lost to the San Antonio Rampage (4-2, Nov. 28) and three times to Toronto (4-1, Nov. 30; 3-2, Dec. 1; 4-3, Dec. 8). Only a 3-1 win Dec. 7 over the Adirondack Phantoms has broken up the slide, with rookie Connor Knapp earning his first professional win in his third start.
Two players who will vie for playing time with the Buffalo Sabres – assuming there's an NHL season – lead the way in scoring for Rochester. Marcus Foligno has 20 points (six goals, 14 assists), while T.J. Brennan has 18 points (nine-nine).
The Amerks now stand at 10-9-3-0, good for 22 points. They are fourth out of five teams in the North Division, 11 points behind the first-place Abbotsford Heat and four points ahead of the Hamilton Bulldogs for last place.
The Amerks next face off against the Heat at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Blue Cross Arena. Rochester plays six of its next nine games at home.
