The NHL and NHLPA have gotten the hopes of their fans up, and now they are smashing those hopes into millions of bite-sized pieces.
The two sides met for most of last week and reports were coming out that they weren't far from a new CBA. Those reports seem to have been lost on the leaders of each side, and now they are thinking about not negotiating for a while.
The Huffington Post reports that NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has suggested that the sides take a two-week break from negotiations, in an attempt to regroup and possibly refocus themselves. The Post also reports that the two sides did speak Friday and will discuss over the weekend what the next steps will be in order to get a new CBA done.
Of course, when the commissioner of the league suggests a two-week break during what appears to be crunch time, optimism that this season will ever get started is hard to find.Tags: Buffalo, Buffalo Sabres, Gary Bettman, Hockey, NHL
