The talks that looked promising over the weekend appear to have broken down between the NHL and NHLPA.

There have been conflicting reports from each side in regards of where they are in the negotiation table, but one thing for sure is that the sides, right now, are deadlocked on three key issues. USA Today reports that Hockey Related Revenue, Player Contracts and Economics in the shortened season are the three major factors the sides have yet to hammer down. These three issues could cost the league its entire season.
Union leader Steve Fehr was quoted earlier this week saying a deal could be done quickly once the two sides breakthrough one of the key issues. Unfortunately for fans, it's not looking too promising. However, things could change in an instant if one side decides to give in a bit.
As of right now, the 2012-2013 NHL season looks like it may never be. Only time will tell for sure.
