Andrej Sekera may have had a less than stellar season for the Buffalo Sabres, but he has flourished for Team Slovakia in the IIHF World Championship Tournament thus far.

Sekera earned an assist on the game winning power play goal that eliminated Team Canada Thursday when his point shot was deflected by Michal Handzus late in the third period. The win is Slovakia's first against Canada in seven attempts, going all the way back to 2002. Sekera says that while his team continues to advance, they still have work to do.

"We're still flying under the radar," Sekera told NHL.com. "We just tried to play hard 60 minutes as a team, fight for each other, and get the goals. We have a great team, especially off the ice. We help each other and try to make everybody else's life easier and more comfortable."

Slovakia will play the Czech Republic Saturday in one of the two semifinal matchups scheduled.
