The Amerks saw their average attendance go up 44.5 percent to 5,595 fans per game for 40 contests in 2011-12 at Blue Cross Arena. That was the highest percent increase, while that average total ranked 13th in the 30-team league. The league average was 5,638.
The team drew 10,018 fans for its home finale April 13 against the Syracuse Crunch and exceeded 9,000 fans two other times. The team's sole home playoff game drew 7,118 fans. Blue Cross Arena holds 11,200 people for hockey.
The Amerks has served as the Sabres' top farm club from 1979 until 2008, when Buffalo moved its affiliation to Portland. Sabres owner Terry Pegula revived the relationship when he bought the Amerks in June 2011.
