After missing Wednesdays drills at the beginning of the Buffalo Bills OTAs, defensive standouts Mario Williams and Kiko Alonso returned to the field for limited drills on Thursday.

Both of the defensive starters had offseason hip surgery.

While the defense gained two starters, wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been excused from the remainder of the week's drills.

Watkins has left Buffalo so that he could attend the NFL Players Association rookie premiere in Los Angeles. The premiere is a yearly event that showcases some of the draft's more popular players.

"It’s not his fault that he’s not going to be here the next two days, I wish he was," coach Doug Marrone said. "Looking back I made a note that I should have had practice [Tuesday] so I only would have lost him one day. My mistake on that."
