It may have been a meaningless win over a lousy opponent, but the Buffalo Bills still showed a certain level of grit Sunday in grinding out a 27-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Bills put together an impressive second quarter, compiling 17 straight points over 7:12 t hold a 20-10 halftime lead. The Jags tied the game in the fourth quarter, but Buffalo got the touchdown it needed to reclaim the lead, then made the defensive plays it needed to seal the victory.

The Bills compiled 198 rushing yards as a team. Fred Jackson had 80 of those, with C.J. Spiller adding 67 more. EJ Manuel found the end zone on the ground, scoring on an eight-yard run in the first half's final few minutes to give Buffalo a 17-10 lead. He finished with 37 rushing yards.

He also put together one of his better efforts in the passing game. He finished the afternoon 17-of-24 for 193 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. The first touchdown, a seven-yard pass to Robert Woods, tied the game at 10-10. The second, a one-yard pass to rarely used fullback Frank Summers, gave the Bills their final margin of victory. That touchdown gave Manuel 11 for the season, a new franchise record for a rookie quarterback.

Winning the turnover battle proved crucial for the Bills. A Nickell Robey fumble recovery led to a Dan Carpenter field goal to end the first half. And a Stephon Gilmore interception in the end zone ended the Jags' last good chance to tie the game in the Bills forced three turnovers in all, with Aaron Williams also recording an interception.

The Bills sacked Chad Henne five times. He still had one of his better outings of the season, though, going 21-of-36 for 237 yards and two touchdowns. The Bills also let reserve running back Jordan Todman rush for 109 yards – more than he's compiled total in his two-year NFL career to date.

Woods and Scott Chandler each had five catches to lead Buffalo. Leodis McKelvin had eight tackles.

By virtue of Miami's win over New England, the Bills were officially eliminated from the playoffs. Buffalo improves to 5-9 and hosts the Dolphins next week. The Jaguars fall to 4-10.
