Researchers theorized people in losing cities ate as a coping mechanism. Winning-city residents, meanwhile, got a boost in self-control by their teams' wins.
To counteract this psychological tendency, researchers suggested a self-affirmation exercise in which you write down what is important in life. This will help put into mind the fact that the defeat is not that significant, they said.
