The Bufflao Bills' first in-season practice of 2013 saw the return of the team's quarterback to the field as he recovers from surgery.
EJ Manuel practiced Sunday for the first time since hurting his knee Aug. 17 against the Washington Redskins. he had what the team called a minor procedure after that game.
Manuel said after practice he's received multiple treatments on the knee and has spent a lot of time in the film room in lieu of being able to play. Coach Doug Marrone said if he's healthy by Wednesday, he will start Sunday against the New England Patriots. if not, Jeff Tuel will start.
"It felt great to back out there with my teammates instead of doing rehab … I'm not feeling any pressure, but personally, I want to play."
Manuel said he had no soreness Sunday night after practicing on a limited basis. Marrone said he will fully practice Monday to gauge where the knee is at:
"He's ahead of schedule … He looked good, and we were excited about it."
Running back C.J. Spiller returned to the team after taking time off to deal with the murder-suicide in Florida involving his step-grandfather.
