The Buffalo Bills will be without quarterback EJ Manuel for at least the rest of the preseason.

Coach Doug Marrone said Saturday that Manuel's left knee was swelling Saturday morning. He had an MRI that revealed he needs to have a "minor knee procedure."
"He will miss the remainder of the preseason and then be re-evaluated at that time. Kevin Kolb will be our starting quarterback for this weekend’s game at Washington," Marrone said.
Manuel seemed to further distance himself from Kolb in his second preseason out Friday. He went 10-for-12 for an unspectacular 92 yards, but he capped off a lengthy scoring drive with a touchdown throw and looked very comfortable.
Kolb, in contract, went 13-for-21 for 11 yards but threw an interception and more frequently looked confused or otherwise unconfident in what he was doing. Only six quarters into his pro career, Manuel possessed the cool and calm of a six-year pro.
Marrone said Manuel will be re-evaluated after the preseason finale Aug. 29 against the Detroit Lions.
Also Saturday, the Bills said wide receiver Kevin Elliott tore his ACL Friday and will be out for the year. The second-year pro signed with the Bills last December but did not dress for them. He had 10 catched for 108 yards for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012 prior to being waived.
