Buffalo Bills hall of fame quarterback Jim Kelly appeared on the radio with John Murphy Thursday night. During his segment, Kelly discussed his feelings on who he would start at quarterback this season.
“I’ve been to a couple of practices,” Kelly said. “If I had to give a nod, I really would look more towards Kevin Kolb right now. And the reason I say that is, he’s a veteran. He’s been through it. He knows what to look at.”
Although Kelly gives Kolb the start, he doesn't discount E.J. Manuel's talent either.
“When EJ Manuel, when he gets it, when it starts clicking with him, and the more I saw him, the more people I talk to, it’s starting to click more and more,” Kelly told host John Murphy. “He’s such a great athlete, he’s got such a strong arm, and he’s got such good football sense, which is why they drafted him.”
Regardless of who gets the start this season, Kelly truly believes that the Bills have improved at the quarterback position from previous years.
“Right now, it will be interesting to see how this training camp pans out. Both of them had great minicamps, they both did very good jobs. The whole coaching staff looked at them, and that was one position they might not have to worry about as much as they have in the past.”
Training camp begins at St. John Fisher College on July 28
