Andre Reed will now be able to add 'coach' to his long resume. According to several media reports, the former Buffalo Bills wide receiver has accepted a Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship position with the Kansas City Chiefs. Reed will work with Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid throughout training camp and the team’s preseason.

The fellowship program gives minority coaching prospects a chance to gain experience as a coach. It is hoped the program will increase the amount of full-time minority coaches in the NFL.

“It is imperative we continue to create opportunities, not only in coaching but in every other aspect of the league,”said Scott Pioli, former Kansas City Chiefs general manager and Bill Walsh NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship Advisory Council member. “This fellowship program is important as long as we continue to teach and mentor individuals with one basic premise in mind – educate. I am a firm believer in the proverb of, ‘Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.’”
