Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl defensive lineman Kyle Williams will receive the 2012 Ed Block Courage Foundation Award at a dinner Thursday.

If nothing else, new Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine is certainly an optimist.

One player from every NFL team is nominated by his teammates for the award, which honors sportsmanship and inspiration. Arthor Moats will receive the award on Williams' behalf.

The award will be given during the fourth annual gala being held by Gateway-Longview, a not-for-profit child and family agency in the Buffalo area. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. at Giancarlo's restaurant, 5111 Main St., Williamsville.
