It's been rumored that Deron Williams may be on the trading block for the Brooklyn Nets.  It appears as though the Los Angeles Lakers may be a potential suitor for the disheartened point guard.

The Lakers still have Kobe Bryant and appear to want to try short-cutting the rebuilding process in order to make use of Bryant's final seasons.  They will likely try everything they can to get Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves.  There is mutual interest there as Love would like to go to the Lakers.  Among the other players that the Lakers may target is Williams.

If the Lakers come calling it would be interesting to see what the Nets would do.  The Lakers biggest trading asset is their draft pick.  After Tuesday's draft lottery, it was determined that the Lakers will have the seventh pick in the draft, should they decide to keep it.

This draft has a lot of very talented players.  At that position, several intriguing players like Noah Vonleh, Dante Exum, Julius Randle, Marcus Smart, Doug McDermott and Aaron Gordon are among the highly talented players that could be available.

With Williams recent history, though, it is unlikely the Lakers will be that interested.  Williams has stated that he has lost his confidence over the last two seasons.  His level of play has significantly dropped since his days with the Utah Jazz.  Williams also stated recently that he may need surgery on his ankles this offseason.  Plus, he still owed $63 million over three years with a trade kicker that up's that total to $72 million.

It would be a big gamble for the Lakers to trade that pick for Williams.  In other words, it will not happen.
