Mike Prada of SB Nation recently released a list of his top 100 NBA players by the year 2017. Every year basketball analysts do projections similar to this to debate which rising stars will be at the top of the league in the near future. Prada had a panel of other SB Nation writers help him to rank the top 100, two members of the Brooklyn Nets were ranked in the top 50 (Deron Williams- 32, Brook Lopez-17.)

The Nets are clearly a team built to win now, with aging stars like Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett and a roster filled with veteran role players, however it is interesting to look at the future of this team. Lopez is a pretty obvious top 20 choice and 17 might even be a little low for an All-Star center with a ton of room to grow. Williams will be just out of his prime at 33-years-old but should still be an extremely productive NBA starting point guard.

Besides those two players the Nets roster will likely look completely different than its current state. Andray Blatche might still be around as one of the team’s most productive players at age 31 and the front office has to be hoping that their European draftees, Mirza Teletovic, Tornike Shengelia and Bojan Bogdanovic, will be developed NBA talents by this point.

There is surely a lot of uncertainty looking four years down the road for the Nets but if this summer is any indication then it is apparent that Mikhail Prokhorov will be pulling out his checkbook for whichever big star will be willing to take on the bright lights of New York City. Who knows, it might even be Kevin Durant, we heard his new agent Jay-Z has some ties to the city and the team.
