There has been a lot of talk about the 2014 draft class and what the Boston Celtics will be able to do in the trade market to get better next season. In some ways, we have all become extremely shortsighted in this rebuilding process. The Celtics have a ton of assets, everyone understands that. Danny Ainge is trying to collect even more assets before the trade deadline next Thursday.

However, the Celtics are thinking far beyond this summer. The summer of 2015 seems like a more likely jumping off point for Celtics success. The Sporting News' Sean Deveney was on The Adam Jones show on Boston's 98.5 The Sports Hub discussed the Celtics rebuilding efforts. He believes that the summer of 2015 is more vital than this summer. Bad contracts, according to Deveney, are okay as long as they expire before 2015.

Does that mean Gerald Wallace is on the top of Ainge's trade list? Possibly, if anyone is willing to take on his contract. With players like LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Love, and Rajon Rondo all on the market in 2015.

Needless to say, the summer of 2015 feels very far away, especially considering how tough it's been to watch this team over stretches of this season. However, it is a worthwhile reminder that this rebuilding could take longer than just one season and a top draft pick in 2014. Considering how the talent is shaking out in this college basketball season, it doesn't seem like any of them are going to ride in and save a franchise. We could be wrong, but we doubt it.

So, Celtics fans. Buckle up, Danny Ainge is looking forward, way forward. It's going to be a longer rebuild than we thought in July when the draft class looked absolutely loaded.
